THE DEATH OF JIM MCGRAW
A prosecutor fights for justice in the wake of a billionaire's murder on New Year's Eve.
2026 | 19 min
Jim McGraw is rich. Too rich. And he’s made more than his share of enemies. When he’s murdered at a lavish New Year’s Eve gala, three witnesses come forward, each claiming they saw the crime unfold. Enter Felicity Valenza, a novice Assistant District Attorney taking on her first case. These three eyewitnesses are her only lifeline to securing a conviction. But with a seasoned defense attorney standing in her way, Valenza quickly learns that the fight ahead is far more complex—and far less certain—than she ever imagined.

Director’s Statement
The Death of Jim McGraw is my second short film, combining my passions for law and filmmaking while paying homage to my years competing in undergraduate Mock Trial. With this project, I wanted to offer a fresh take on the murder mystery genre by revealing both the victim and the killer within the film’s first minute. The central question is not who committed the crime, but rather: how can we prove it?
That question has been at the heart of every Moot Court case I have argued across the country. It is the crucial step between an arrest and a conviction, the space where evidence is tested, narratives are challenged, and lawyers do their work. It is a space that fascinates me, and one I hope I have brought to life through this film.
